O le vaivai o le fe'e.
"The softness of the octopus."

This alagaupu (Samoan proverb) points to the fe'e (octopus) — a creature with no bones, no hard shell, nothing but soft, yielding flesh — that is nonetheless one of the most capable hunters on the reef. Despite its softness, the octopus is powerful. Traditionally spoken as an upu vivi'i (words of praise), it honors a small but influential family or village, or a calm, quietly-spoken speech that carries real weight — proof that strength doesn't need to look hard or loud to be real.
