Catch the Bird, Watch the Wave — Samoan Proverb Tee
$2,399.00
Ia seu le manu, 'ae silasila i le galu.
"Catch the bird, but watch the breakers."
This alagāupu comes from the sea cliffs of Tutuila, where hunters once caught exhausted seabirds resting on the rocks by hand or with nets — no decoys needed. But the catch was never the only danger: the pounding surf below could sweep a careless hunter off the cliff in an instant. The saying is used as an upu taofiofi, a caution: stay focused on the goal in front of you, but never lose sight of the obstacles around it. Chase what you're after — carefully.
