All Gathered in One Pool — Samoan Proverb Tee
$33.99
Ua aofia i le futiafu e tasi.
"All gathered in one pool."
This alagaupu (Samoan proverb) takes its image from the futiafu — the still pool that collects at the base of a waterfall, where dry leaves, fallen fruit, and drifting sticks carried down by many separate streams all end up gathered together in one place. It is applied to the meeting of relatives or friends who converge from different directions, and just as often to a council reaching a unanimous decision — many voices settling, in the end, into one mind. A variant puts it this way: wild oranges may be scattered through the bush, but they come together in the basin of the waterfall.
