O le mama ma le ponoi.
"Mouthful after mouthful, and no end to it."

This alagaupu (Samoan proverb) is traditionally applied to a mother trying to feed her baby — spooning food into a mouth faster than it can ever be swallowed, a task that never seems to reach its end. Pratt's collection gives a related image: a canoe that is both leaky and taking on waves at once, used of someone over-burdened with too many tasks at the same time.

The design reimagines this endless, overburdened feeling through the pe'a — the Samoan flying fox — captured mid-flight with its mouth full, forever reaching for the next mouthful. Its wings dissolve from photorealistic fur and membrane into bold tatau (traditional Samoan tattoo) linework: 'upega fishnet lattice across the chest, nifo 'oti shark-teeth bands at the wingtips, aveau wave chevrons and spearhead patterns radiating outward, all set above a stylized ridge of Tutuila's rainforest mountains, ocean wave swirls, and a geometric sunburst, framed in a circular tatau medallion.

Back print: full tatau-style flying fox design with the proverb arced across the top.
Front right chest: small "Alagaupu Fa'asamoa" pocket logo.

Available in Black and White. Premium streetwear fit, screen-print-ready bold linework in deep navy/teal with warm gold accents.
